In recent years, shoe manufacturers have achieved shoe lasts and construction that compare favorably with those of European manufacturers, and Japanese-made products are often superior. The technical capabilities of Japanese manufacturers have matured to the point where they can stand alongside the rest of the world.

In Japan, however, black and brown are the dominant colors among products displayed in stores, and the choices available from a fashion perspective are currently quite limited. In fact, shoes from Italy, France, and other countries seen at European trade shows often feature wonderful color schemes because they are designed with coordination with clothing in mind, and their sense of style is frequently impressive. Beginning around 2017, we repeatedly experimented with the goal of “creating shoes that express color through a Japanese sensibility,” ultimately creating “Senju-zome,” a line of shoes, Bags, leather accessories, and other leather goods colored by hand-dyed techniques.

Each pair of shoes is carefully hand-dyed by an artisan, creating unprecedented depth and contrast and resulting in products that bring out the individuality of our customers. Please use this website to find “a pair made just for you.”
