Maintenance

You want to enjoy your treasured shoes for many years. To do so, regular maintenance is essential. Here, we introduce the basic shoe care methods.


How to care

Shoe Care Manual (Smooth Leather)

  • 01. Brushing

    Use a shoe brush to remove dust from the shoes. Brush carefully to sweep away dirt and debris from the entire shoe, the sole edge, seams, and other areas. If dust or dirt remains in the small details, all your careful maintenance will be wasted.

  • 02. Removing Dirt

    Use a dedicated cleaner to remove light dirt, old cream, wax, and other residue, returning the leather to a clean, bare state. Wrap a cloth around your finger and gently and carefully remove the dirt in circular motions. Spread the cleaner over the entire shoe as well, taking care not to let it pool in one area. If there are any areas of concern, clean those spots individually as needed.

  • 03. Shoe Cream

    Apply emulsion-type shoe cream. Use your finger, a cloth, or a small brush called a penetrator brush to apply a small amount of cream in several applications. Spread a thin layer evenly over the entire shoe. For shoes with a hand patina finish, colorless emulsion cream is recommended. If you are concerned about color loss, restore the color with colored cream. In that case, test it first on an inconspicuous area, such as the arch on the inside of the shoe.

  • 04. Brushing

    Brush the shoes to remove excess cream from the leather creases, sole edge, and seams while also working the shoe cream evenly into the entire shoe. The key is to brush quickly and evenly before the cream dries, avoiding any uneven application.

  • 05. Finishing Polish

    Carefully polish the entire shoe with a fine-textured cloth, such as a glove for finishing, to bring out a beautiful shine.

  • 06. Waterproofing Spray

    As a final step, apply waterproofing spray. Applying waterproofing spray will make the overall finish slightly more matte and reduce the shine somewhat, so use it according to your preference. If you use the spray, hold it about 20 cm away from the shoes and spray. The key is to spray lightly several times, allowing the surface to become only slightly damp. In addition to protecting the shoes from splashes of mud, it helps protect them from oils, dust, stains, and other contaminants, making them less likely to get dirty and easier to care for later.
