Blake construction originally comes from the traditional techniques of Italy’s Marche region, and most Italian shoes are made using Blake construction. This method involves stitching the upper and outsole directly together, and thanks to its simple structure, it provides flexible sole movement and allows even the softest leather to be made into shoes.
As the shoes are worn, they gradually develop a foot-hugging fit, which is a distinctive feature of Blake construction. Because thin insoles and outsoles can be used, this method is characterized by a refined, delicate appearance, light weight, and flexible sole movement. As a construction method for making sophisticated luxury shoes, it maintains a unique position alongside Goodyear welt construction.
