Unadorned beauty, crafted with authentic techniques.
The plain toe, stripped of ornamentation, is the design that best showcases the natural beauty of leather shoes.
Precisely because of its simplicity, the silhouette, leather quality, color, and overall finish are all put to the test.

Mon Model’s Goodyear welted construction plain-toe Derby shoes are authentic leather shoes that combine traditional Goodyear welted construction with the artisan hand-dyed “Senju-zome” technique. They have a classic presence while offering understated allure and depth unavailable in ready-made shoes.
The quarters lend them a moderate casual feel, while the plain toe creates a minimalist look. They blend naturally into business settings, as well as jacket styles and denim.

We use Goodyear welted construction, known for its durability and ease of repair.
They have a solid, substantial feel when you first wear them, but the more you wear them, the more they conform to your feet and develop a one-of-a-kind comfort. They also support sole replacement, allowing you to enjoy them as “leather shoes you can break in and develop” for many years.

Because they are simple, there is nowhere to hide.
These Mon Model plain-toe Derby shoes let you enjoy the authentic appeal of leather shoes.
Goodyear welted construction
A method developed in the latter half of the 19th century with machine-based mass production in mind, based on the original hand-sewn technique (hand-sewn welted construction). Its defining feature is that when the upper and sole are stitched together, they are secured through a narrow strip of leather called a welt.
First, the upper, welt, and tape (rib) attached to the bottom of the insole are joined with a stitch-down seam. The welt and outsole are then joined with a through stitch.
Because the upper and outsole are not stitched directly together, rainwater is less likely to seep into the shoe through the sole seams. When the sole wears down, it can be repaired by replacing the entire sole, a process known as a full sole replacement. Although this construction is complex and therefore more costly, the cushioning material (cork) packed between the insole and outsole gradually takes the shape of your foot as you wear the shoes, improving the fit and allowing you to enjoy them for many years as they mold to your feet.
